Data Scientist
Fulltime Position
Des Plaines, IL (Hybrid / 2 days a week onsite)
Our client is seeking a Data Scientist to join their established and growing analytics department. A successful Data Scientist will collaborate on strategic objectives and improve business performance by designing, scaling, and supporting a range of analytical and modeling products. We are looking for someone who is eager to work alongside data scientists, engineers, QA analysts and business leaders to partner in the creation and delivery of end-to-end analytical products. A successful candidate is technically proficient in data science tools and methods, including AI and Cloud technologies, and they ensure their knowledge aids in the development and growth of team members and individuals across the organization. Strong communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills are required to be successful in this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Balance the complexity of data, usage of multiple coding/visualization platforms, and variety in client needs to develop best in class data products and educate leadership on data driven decision making
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers and QA Analysts to develop, improve and maintain data pipelines, processes, and Data Science Products
- Create interactive dashboards and automated reports (using Hex) to maximize the impact of data-driven insights throughout the organization
- Conduct timely exploratory data analysis using Python notebooks to support the analytics team in handling ad-hoc requests
- Identify opportunities to expand capabilities and build knowledge of internal data processes, sources, and tools
- Follow best practices for project/model documentation and version control
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or a Related Technical Field
- MS in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or a Related Technical Field
- 1-3 years of experience in a project-based role involving data science, data analysis, visualizations, and communication/sharing of findings
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects, communicate and collaborate in a team environment and offer suggestions to adjust plans to meet evolving business objectives
- Strong problem-solving skills, a passion for quality & attention to detail, and the ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results
- Intermediate programming skills in Python. Python notebook expertise is strongly preferred with a strong understanding of Pandas and visualizations (Plotly)
- Highly proficient in SQL with data modeling experience
- Experience crafting data visualizations, dashboards, and analytical products
- Experience working with cloud technologies (AWS preferred) and concepts of AI including, but not limited to NLP, ethical usage and governance
- Experience working with of statistical techniques and concepts including regression, distributions, statistical tests, and others
- Experience working with of multiple machine learning algorithms, including linear and logarithmic regression, decision trees, and clustering models
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS PowerPoint)
