With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.</div>About Us
 Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data together, we’re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on. Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions. As we bring our teams and technology together, we’re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It’s an exciting time to join us: we’re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact. During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.
About the Role
Fivetran and dbt Labs are now one company. Together we build the data movement and transformation tools that data teams around the world rely on. Our Analytics team runs on those same tools every day, so you'll work on a modern data stack and help set best practices for the industry. As a Senior Product Analyst, you'll help product leaders understand how customers adopt, use, and stay with our core Fivetran data movement and dbt platform products as well as new product releases spanning AI, BI, and compute. You'll be a "full-stack" analyst. You'll build the data models, define the metrics, create the dashboards, run the analysis, and turn it all into recommendations that shape what we build next. AI is part of how we work. We expect analysts to use AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate analysis and increase efficiency, while applying their own judgment and validating the results. This is a full-time, flexible hybrid position based in Oakland, CA. Our hybrid work model offers remote flexibility and in-person collaboration; there is no fixed number of required office days, and we encourage teams to meet in person regularly.
Why This Role Is Exciting
<ul>
<li>Two product portfolios just came together. Many questions about how customers use Fivetran and dbt together have never been asked. You'll be one of the first people to answer them.</li>
<li>Your work drives leadership decisions. You'll focus on adoption, engagement, and retention, the metrics product leaders use to decide where to invest.</li>
<li>You own the work end to end, from raw data to the decision it informs.</li>
<li>You'll analyze products built for people like you. Our customers are data teams.</li>
</ul>
Technologies You’ll Use
<ul>
<li>SQL (BigQuery / Snowflake)</li>
<li>dbt / dbt State</li>
<li>Looker / LookML / Omni</li>
<li>Hex / Sigma / Google Sheets</li>
<li>Claude Code / Codex</li>
</ul>
What You’ll Do
<ul>
<li>Partner with product managers and product line leaders to understand problems and potential solutions with data. Deliver regular analysis and insight on product adoption, engagement, and retention.</li>
<li>Proactively investigate trends in user behavior and product usage. Find issues and growth opportunities before anyone asks, and use them to shape product and growth strategy.</li>
<li>Define, measure, and monitor the KPIs that show whether our products are healthy and whether the company is on track.</li>
<li>Size the potential impact of new product initiatives and recommend how to prioritize them.</li>
<li>Analyze product launches and experiments, and recommend what to do next.</li>
<li>Find and reduce friction in the funnels users go through to sign up, activate, and adopt our products.</li>
<li>Tackle questions where product data meets broader business data, such as revenue, sales, and support.</li>
<li>Build and maintain the data models, metrics, and dashboards behind your work.</li>
<li>Help new hires, colleagues, and partners understand our data and use it well, so data-informed decisions become the norm.</li>
</ul>
Skills We’re Looking For
<ul>
<li>5+ years in analytics, mostly in product analytics, ideally at a high-growth B2B or SaaS company.</li>
<li>Advanced SQL. You can turn messy, raw data into clean, trustworthy datasets, and write, debug, and explain SQL yourself.</li>
<li>Comfort using AI tools in analytics workflows to explore data, draft or improve SQL, automate repetitive work, and synthesize findings. You can evaluate and validate AI-generated output.</li>
<li>Hands-on experience building data models, ideally with dbt, creating dashboards in a BI tool such as Looker, Omni, or Tableau, and performing funnel, cohort, and segmentation analysis.</li>
<li>A track record of using analysis to drive product or business decisions, not just report on them. You can take an open-ended question with little direction and turn it into a clear analysis and recommendation.</li>
<li>Strong attention to detail and prioritization. Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain findings to executives and technical tradeoffs to engineers. </li>
<li>Experience influencing cross-functional, distributed teams, both asynchronously and in real time.</li>
</ul>
Bonus Skills
<ul>
<li>Experience designing and analyzing experiments (A/B/n tests), including test design, sample size, significance, and turning results into launch decisions.</li>
<li>Deep knowledge of the SaaS customer lifecycle and business metrics, such as ARR (annual recurring revenue), retention, and expansion.</li>
<li>Experience defining product events and helping teams self-serve in product analytics tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Heap.</li>
<li>Experience developing and scaling a large dbt project.</li>
<li>Python or R for analysis.</li>

About the Team
The Semantic Layer team owns the systems that turn dbt models into trusted, reusable business metrics. At the heart of this is MetricFlow — the open-source semantic engine that powers the dbt Semantic Layer. MetricFlow lets data teams define metrics once in code and consume them consistently across BI tools, notebooks, AI agents, and downstream applications.
This team is the steward of MetricFlow as an open-source project: shipping releases, reviewing community contributions, evolving the query compiler, and ensuring it integrates cleanly with the broader dbt ecosystem. You'll work at the intersection of language design, query compilation, and distributed data execution — solving problems that directly shape how thousands of organizations measure their business.
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Semantic Layer team in Bangalore. You'll be a core contributor to MetricFlow — designing features, optimizing query generation, hardening the open-source codebase, and partnering with the community of contributors and adopters around it. This is a high-ownership role: you'll write production code, drive technical decisions, and help shape the long-term architecture of one of the most important projects in the modern data stack.
What You'll Do
<ul>
<li>Design, build, and maintain core features of MetricFlow, including metric definitions, query compilation, dimensional modeling, and SQL generation across multiple data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, and others).</li>
<li>Own MetricFlow as an open-source project — triage issues, review external pull requests, manage releases, and engage the community on GitHub and in Slack.</li>
<li>Collaborate with engineers across dbt Cloud, dbt Core, and the Semantic Layer service to ensure MetricFlow integrates seamlessly with the rest of the dbt ecosystem.</li>
<li>Improve performance, reliability, and observability of metric query execution at scale.</li>
<li>Partner with product, design, and developer-relations teammates to translate customer and community feedback into shipped improvements.</li>
<li>Write clear technical documentation, RFCs, and design docs that raise the bar for how the team thinks and ships.</li>
<li>Mentor other engineers through code review, pairing, and technical guidance.</li>
</ul>
Skills We're Looking For
<ul>
<li>Strong professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of shipping production systems.</li>
<li>Deep proficiency in Python, including modern typing, testing practices, and packaging.</li>
<li>Strong SQL fundamentals and a working understanding of how analytical query engines and data warehouses execute queries.</li>
<li>Experience designing systems that involve parsing, compilation, or transformation — for example: query planners, DSL compilers, type systems, or rule-based engines.</li>
<li>Solid grasp of software design principles: clean APIs, modularity, testability, and backwards compatibility.</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication — you can explain complex tradeoffs clearly to engineers, PMs, and external community members.</li>
<li>Experience collaborating in a distributed, asynchronous team environment.</li>
</ul>
Bonus Skills (Optional)
<ul>
<li>Prior experience contributing to or maintaining a popular open-source project.</li>
<li>Familiarity with dbt, MetricFlow, LookML, Cube, or other semantic-layer technologies.</li>
<li>Background in data warehousing internals, query optimization, or analytical SQL dialects.</li>
<li>Experience with CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and release engineering for Python libraries.</li>
<li>Exposure to building developer-facing APIs, SDKs, or CLIs.</li>
</ul>
Why Join Us
<ul>
<li>Impact at scale: Your code will run inside the data platforms of tens of thousands of companies, including some of the world's largest enterprises.</li>
<li>Open-source ownership: You'll be a public, named maintainer of a foundational project — your work is visible, reviewed, and used by the global data community.</li>
<li>A team that values craft: We invest in design docs, code review, and durable engineering. We ship fast, but we don't ship sloppy.</li>
<li>Competitive compensation: Market-leading salary, equity, comprehensive health insurance, generous time off, learning &amp; wellness stipends, and home-office support.</li>
</ul>

Senior Software Engineer

<div>From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.</div>About Us
Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data. Together, we’re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on.
Fivetran + dbt Labs is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies. We’re looking for a Senior Staff Systems Engineer, Data and Integrations to join our Systems Engineering team and set the technical direction for the data that runs Fivetran's business. In this role, you will own the data architecture behind our marketing, sales, billing, and product operations: the canonical data models, the contracts between systems, and the pipelines and transformations that move data reliably between them. You will lead our largest and most consequential data initiatives, such as system migrations, org consolidations, and re-platforming of core integrations, from design through validation and cutover.
This position sits at the crossroads of data engineering, data modeling, and business process. You will partner closely with our Systems, Analytics, and Engineering teams, as well as Marketing, Revenue Operations, Accounting, Product Operations, and other business partner teams, and you will mentor the engineers who build within the standards you set.
This is a full-time position based out of our Oakland, California office.
 Technologies You’ll Use

 Our core systems are Salesforce, Netsuite, Coupa, Workday, and Zendesk, with BigQuery as our data warehouse. Our current integration stack includes Celigo and Fivetran itself.  You should be an expert in SQL and strong in a general purpose programming language such as Python or TypeScript, and comfortable evaluating and adopting new tools when necessary.
A data engineering background is required, with expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT development, data quality testing, and data validation at scale. Experience with dbt or a similar transformation framework, and with API-based and event-driven integration patterns, is preferred. Help us bring established data engineering practices to internal business systems, and define what those practices should be here.
 What You’ll Do
Data Architecture and Standards
<ul>
<li>Own the canonical data models for Fivetran's marketing, sales, billing, and product operations integrations, and define how business concepts map to data across our core systems.</li>
<li>Define team-wide standards for data modeling, data quality, testing, governance, and documentation, and drive their adoption across Systems Engineering and partner teams.</li>
<li>Contribute to the design of integration architecture, establishing guidance for when to use batch, real-time, and event-driven data movement.</li>
</ul>
Delivery of Complex Initiatives
<ul>
<li>Lead the design and execution of our most complex data initiatives, including bulk migrations, system consolidations, and re-implementation of core integrations, from target-state design through validation, cutover, and stabilization.</li>
<li>Build, review, and ship the SQL and Python transformations and pipelines behind these initiatives, setting the bar for code quality on the team.</li>
<li>Design the validation and reconciliation approach for migrations and pipeline changes, and sign off with stakeholders that record counts, values, and business rules reconcile.</li>
</ul>
Reliability and Observability
<ul>
<li>Design the monitoring, alerting, and data quality framework that gives end-to-end visibility into data freshness and accuracy across systems, and define the KPIs used to measure integration and data health.</li>
<li>Lead root cause analysis on the most complex cross-system data issues, and drive the systemic fixes that prevent recurrence.</li>
</ul>
Business Partnership Technical Leadership
<ul>
<li>Translate ambiguous requirements from cross-functional business partners into data models and technical designs, and drive alignment across teams with competing priorities.</li>
<li>Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for business data within the Systems Engineering team.</li>
<li>Mentor other engineers and review their designs and code, raising the team's proficiency in data modeling, testing, and pipeline design.</li>
<li>Write and maintain design documents and data flow documentation for current and target state, so decisions are legible to the team and to partners.</li>
</ul>
 Skills We’re Looking For
<ul>
<li>10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or a similar role, with a deep focus on modeling and transforming business data and a track record of technical leadership on complex, multi-team initiatives.</li>
<li>Expert SQL proficiency, including complex transformations, performance tuning, and large-scale data reconciliation.</li>
<li>Strong proficiency in a general purpose programming language such as Python or TypeScript, with experience building production-grade, tested data pipelines.</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with business systems data models such as those for Salesforce, NetSuite, Coupa, Workday, or Zendesk, including a data migration, org merge, or major re-implementation.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience designing and delivering large-scale ETL/ELT solutions and the data quality, validation, and governance frameworks around them.</li>
<li>Ability to evaluate trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term data architecture health, and to communicate those decisions clearly.</li>
<li>Ability to lead through influence, driving alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders without direct authority.</li>
</ul>

Bonus Skills
<ul>
<li>Experience with dbt or a similar transformation framework.</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with iPaaS platforms such as Celigo, Workato, or Boomi, and with reverse ETL tools, including experience choosing between them.</li>
<li>Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD for data pipelines.</li>
<li>Familiarity with AI/ML capabilities to augment data quality, matching, and automation.</li>
</ul>

By stepping into this role, you will define how Fivetran's + dbt Labs business data is modeled, governed, and moved, and lead the initiatives that make it scale.
